Posters’ Anxiety
Yesterday I had a post on Bluesky get a minimum number of likes (it was a Seinfeld quote, I didn’t even make it up) and I absolutely hated seeing my real full name and face on other people’s timelines. Bluesky is this weird mix of old and current internet and it’s not unsual to see people with their actual name on their account, but they tend to fall more into the shop-owner or news-poster variety. I’m more of what we’d call a mediocre shitposter.
Anyway, way back in the before times (as I’ve 🔗 mentioned 🔗 before 🔗) I used to go by “stumblepeach” and so I decided what I needed was an annoymous Bluesky handle. I didn’t want to go back to stumblepeach ’cause when you google it, it’s been claimed by some other folks, both on Tumblr and elsewhere. I wanted something new and fresh and just mine.
So I decided to switch over to “drivenbycheese” which is the tagline for this site, and felt appropriate. I rolled over to porkbun and bought the cheapest domain I could - 99 cents later and I now apparently own drivenbycheese.click 🔗.
The process for switching your handle on bluesky is super automatic so anyone that follows me wouldn’t notice a difference anyway, but I just wanted to log the origin for posterity.
